BIOSKETCH

Jeffery was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana where he attended Terre Haute South Vigo High School. After graduating as a member of the National Honor Society he attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute to obtain his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with a concentration in Biochemistry. Though majoring in Chemistry, Jeffery conducted his undergraduate research in the laboratory of Professor Michael Angilletta in the field of evolutionary ecology studying how animals adapt to climate change. After graduating magna cum laude from Indiana State, Jeffery joined the research group of Professor Wenshe Liu at Texas A&M University to complete his doctoral studies. His Ph.D. thesis, entitled Expanding the Chemical Diversity of Phage-Displayed Peptide Libraries, focused on applying the technique of genetic code expansion by nonesene suppression to screen phage-displayed peptide libraries containing non-canonical amino acids. Jeffery earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Texas A&M in May of 2018. In July of the same year he joined the laboratory of Professor Dieter Söll in the Department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry at Yale University as a Postdoctoral Associate.
